The meeting will focus on different land use and policy alternatives in the general plan, which is a “blueprint” document for the city's future growth, goals and policies.

Next Clearlake General Plan meeting scheduled for Nov. 10
The Nov. 10 meeting will focus on the 11 different elements of the general plan and the community’s preference on different future directions, according to representatives with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s City and Regional Planning Department.
The city of Clearlake is working with the college and a team of 14 graduate students under the direction of Cornelius Nuworsoo, who has experience working on over 20 different city general plans.

Drafting of new Clearlake General Plan gets under way
"Community members are invited to take part in the workshops on the document, which is the city’s “blueprint.” It’s meant to determine the city’s goals and policies in order to direct future decision making.
Clearlake’s current general plan is about 30 years old, “way past the life of a generally accepted useful general plan document,” Phillipe told Lake County News.
She reported to the Clearlake City Council at its Sept. 28 meeting that the city has been notified twice by the state that the document needs to be updated."

Council approves agreements for visitor center, general plan document; agrees to adjust city hall hours
"The city has received a Lake County/City Area Planning Council grant of $45,000 to cover the document’s preparation, which is estimated to cost $40,000, Phillipe said. “I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for us,” she said, adding, “If at the end we don’t have a full-fledged general plan, it’s certainly better than what we have today.” A city manager in another area who worked with the students told Phillipe that they saved between $120,000 and $150,000 by using Cal Poly’s corporation to prepare a general plan."
